Twilight in the Garden

This painting began more than a decade ago as something else.
I returned to it years later, building back into the surface with turquoise powder and fragments of paint scraped from works I had destroyed.

Over time, the texture softened and opened. Forms began to appear without being forced.

People often see flowers, butterflies, or movement here.
I think that comes from how the surface holds what’s been broken and reused. It carries a sense of care that wasn’t planned— only arrived at slowly.
